Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier sued OpenAI and CEO Sam Altman on Monday, accusing the company of putting profit over safety, fueling violence and pushing a product it knew could harm users.

OpenAI’s explosive growth has come on the back of a “web of deceit and the exploitation of users,” alleges Florida’s attorney general in a new lawsuit.

"The U.S. should lead on AI by continuing to develop the very best models, making sure they're safe, and getting cyber tools into the hands of trusted defenders," Altman wrote in a post on X.
