New York fire commissioner resigns following Mamdani win
( NewsNation) — New York Fire Commissioner Robert Tucker submitted his resignation the day after democratic socialist Zohran Mamdani won the election for New York City mayor. Tucker submitted his resignation to current Mayor Eric Adams, who tapped him for the role after the previous commissioner resigned.
The New York Giants remain banged up with several key starters, including two along the offensive line, missing Wednesday's practice.
Jewish organizations express deep concerns after Zohran Mamdani's win regarding his Israel stance and refusal to condemn the term "globalize the intifada."
Murdoch-owned tabloid depicts Mamdani with hammer and sickle symbol as Trump threatens to withhold federal funding from the city.
“We have toppled a political dynasty,” Mamdani said in his victory speech. “I wish Andrew Cuomo only the best in private life, but let tonight be the final time I utter his name as we turn the page on a politics that abandons the many and answers only to the few.”
Mamdani’s speech at Flushing Meadows–Corona Park in Queens was to announce his transition team, but he also stressed accountability for the federal law enforcement agents carrying out President Trump’s draconian immigration policies, which have resulted in violent raids and abuses.
Late Tuesday night, after Mamdani was declared the winner, the White House X account (formerly Twitter) posted “Trump Is Your President” in an image that resembled the Knicks logo. According to Front Office Sports’ Margaret Fleming, the Knicks contacted the White House and asked for the image to be removed, and it was deleted Wednesday.
Jets held firm at a third-round ask for Breece Hall and are eyeing an extension, while Hall’s posts hinted frustration after the deadline.
