After 42 years in the Minnesota Legislature, Sen. Sandy Pappas says she will retire after next year's session. Pappas, a DFL-er who represents St. Paul, was first elected to the Minnesota House in 1984 before moving to the Senate in 1990. She's currently chair of the Capital Investment Committee and is a former Senate President.

Amanda Hemmingsen-Jaeger is the projected winner for Minnesota Senate District 47. Hemmingsen-Jaeger received about 61% of the vote. She will finish out Sen. Nicole Mitchell's term after she resigned following a burglary conviction.
Minnesota has had a record-tying 6 legislative special elections in 2025. Any additional special election held before the end of the year would break the state’s record for most in a single calendar year.
