A Riverhead man was one of two kayakers reported missing Saturday whose bodies were subsequently recovered from Shinnecock Bay, according to Southampton Town Police.

Eli Briggs of Riverhead died on [date of death not provided] at Peconic Bay Medical Center. He was 89 years old.

Tom Zaloga of Riverhead died on Oct. 27, 2025. He was 79 years old. Born in Riverhead on March 17, 1946, he was the son of Bruno and Gretchen (Schmersal) Zaloga Jr.
