BNSF Railway’s Sumas Subdivision stretches from Burlington, WA to Sumas, WA at the US-Canada border. Most of the line was originally part of the Northern Pacific Railway mainline from Seattle to Canada. In modern times, the rail line is used by just one mixed traffic freight train in each direction that runs 5 days each week between Everett, WA and Sumas.
