Tejas or the Light Combat Aircraft (LCA), a four plus generation fighter, is India’s very own indigenously designed fighter plane. Developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO), it has already been inducted into the Indian Air Force. In January this year, the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) approved the purchase of 83 MK 1A varient of the fighter jet and on 3rd February, IAF signed the contract with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
