Masada is a desert palace, built by Herod the Great to be an impenetrable fortress over 2,000 years ago! It is an 840-acre complex that included storerooms, bathhouses with frescos, water system, synagogue, and more! This location seems amazing, yet something horrible occurred here. In 66 AD, a Jewish community fled from Jerusalem to Masada, overtook its guards, and found refuge there. Romans later found them and sieged the city for almost three months as they built a ramp 400 feet tall to scale
