“Star Trek” famously had a long and somewhat complicated path to finally making it on air as an NBC series in the fall of 1966. I knew there were multiple pilots. But I didn’t know the second one that was made for network execs (which did not air) actually had a different theme song. It makes the show sound a bit like Dragnet in space..with Shatner’s hard, no-nonsense narration taking its cue from Jack Webb as well.
