Cmdr. Keith Turner, Commanding Officer (CO) of USS Paul Hamilton (DDG 60) believes that the U.S. Navy Basic Division Officer Course (BDOC) and Junior Officer of the Deck (JOOD) course has helped his junior officers (JO's) become proficient and confident mariners. "I think it's important that the Navy continue JO training because the new ensigns will come with a greater degree of professionalism; they're aggressive in their qualifications. They have knowledge and it also allows them to integrate
