Keepers filled pine cones with tamarind paste, which is made up of the edible fruit of the tamarind tree – a favourite food of ring-tailed lemurs in the wild. In honor of the latest #100lemurs illustrations, here are a couple of blue-eyed black lemurs working hard to get their lunch! You can see that the hanging structure moves and swings as the lemurs grab onto different parts – this mimics the dynamic nature of moving through branches and foliage in the forest, and allows the lemurs to practice their natural foraging behaviors. Though, we’re not sure that this *exact* foraging technique has been observed in the wild 🤣 Enrichment is critical to prov
