1. Every red eye isn’t “pink eye.” Allergies, irritation, and dryness can all look the same. 2. Most pink eye is viral, not bacterial — which means antibiotic drops won’t help. They just increase resistance and give false reassurance. 3. If one eye turns red, the other usually will within 24–48 hours. That’s not reinfection — that’s just how the virus spreads. 4. Discharge color doesn’t tell the whole story. Yellow or crusty doesn’t automatically mean bacteria. 5. Viral pink eye spreads quickly.
