A common mistake I see when people do the Smith machine incline bench press is flaring their elbows too far out and having their hands set too wide. This puts unnecessary stress on the shoulders and takes tension off the upper chest. Instead, you want to slightly rotate your hands inward and bring your elbows in at about a 45-degree angle. Regardless of the exercise, make sure your technique and intensity is on point 🤌🏼 This is how to do a smith machine incline press in a way that puts more load on your chest and keeps you safe too. Slightly lower angle to hit less shoulders, feet planted and stable. Elbows tucked. If your training looks easy chances are you’re leaving progress on the table and you should be lifting heavier (closer to failure). When the struggle is real on the Smith machine… 😂 I used to hate it because it took so much time to place the bench in the middle, so here’s how to fix it 👇🏽 Lift the bar down to the bench. On the bar, there’s usually a mark in the middle.
