In December, a male Australasian Bittern known as “Bushy” was the first of his species in WA to be fitted with a solar-powered transmitter to track his movements. Australasian Bitterns are Endangered. Despite their far-carrying booming calls, these bitterns are incredibly cryptic and difficult to observe – meaning there’s a lot we don’t know about them.
