The metal polish Brasso was launched in Britain in 1905 but inspired by Australia two decades earlier. When Reckitt & Sons established their first branch in Australia, they noticed that Australians used a liquid to polish metal, unlike the pastes used in Britain. This was brought to the attention of Reckitt & Sons’ company directors, and once launched, Brasso grew in popularity – even being used by explorers in early expeditions to the South Pole in 1912.
