The Cod Wars 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧 The Cod Wars (Icelandic: Þorskastríðin, "the cod wars", or Landhelgisstríðin, "the wars for the territorial waters") were a series of 20th-century confrontations between the United Kingdom and Iceland about fishing rights in the North Atlantic. Each of the disputes ended with an Icelandic victory. Fishing boats from Britain began sailing to waters near Iceland in search of their catch around the end of the 14th century.
