Intensive livestock systems may provide cheap meat, but they come with a high price. 🐖 They rely on human-edible crops – cereals and soy – but livestock are inefficient at converting these into food for people. Only around 12% of the calories we feed to these animals return in meat, milk, or eggs. Globally, 40% of arable land is used for livestock feed – land that could provide enough calories for 4 billion people if grown for human food. 🌱 These systems are tightly linked to intensive crop pr
