How exactly does a ship map the seafloor? 🗺️ The @nautiluslive expedition (NA175) I’m sailing on as a science communication fellow is all about seafloor mapping. Here’s a quick 60 second explainer of the basics! Nautilus is using acoustic mapping, sending pings of sound to the seafloor which bounce back up and are received by the ship.
