When Lake State Railway took over operations of the central section of the CSX Saginaw Subdivision, traffic began to expand. The once daily turn train from Detroit to Wixom (later Toledo to Wixom) became one scheduled train each way between Toledo and Novi as the volume was too much for one crew to conquer.
