This makes it WAY easier to graph and understand what the line looks like. Start with 4x + 2y = 12 and subtract 4x from both sides to move the x-term to the right side. You'll get 2y = -4x + 12. Now divide everything by 2 to isolate y completely. That gives you y = -2x + 6. Your slope is -2 and your y-intercept is 6.
