These storms are likely to produce damaging, locally destructive winds, large and possibly giant hailstones as well as heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding. It was persistently wet on Wednesday, which continued overnight and into the morning. Most of the rain fell between Nowra and Port Macquarie, including Sydney, Wollongong and Newcastle.
